Maleficent is AthrΓΊ, a type of shapeshifting species of witches, and Moorian fae. She is the last of both species. Moorian fae is a cousin species to dark fey. Moorian fae were the branch of fae to inherit the last of phoenix blood; thus explaining why Maleficent's powers are different from that of the dark fey.

The last of two ancient species, the Moorian Fae and AthrΓΊ-Dragon, Maleficent was raised in the Moors. Bound to protect the last safe haven for magical creatures and non-human cryptids.After befriending a human in her youth, Stefan would go on to betray her. Cutting off her wings as a trophy in his bid to become king of a neighboring kingdom by the name of Alaric.Now wingless and struggling to relearn her body, Maleficent saves and befriends a valravn by the name of Diaval. Aiding Maleficent however she may need. Declaring herself queen of the long un-ruled Moors, she begins her quest for revenge against Stefan. This leads her to curse his infant child, Aurora, to a sleep-like death upon her sixteenth birthday.However, as the years go by, Maleficent begrudgingly grew to become protective of the child. Both she and Diaval helping keep the girl safe, with no thanks from her sworn guardians, a trio of idiotic pixies.Aurora fell to Maleficent's spell at sunset on her sixteen birthday. However, the woman's maternal love for the girl aided in the breaking of the curse.
In their escape of Stefan's castle, after having been met with iron-clad soldiers, Maleficent's wings were finally returned to her in the midst of battle. Stefan would succumb to his injuries in battle. Maleficent renounces her crown, and the Moors return to a self-governed people.Several years pass, and Aurora becomes engaged to her boyfriend, Prince Philip of Alstead. To celebration the engagement, Philip's parents hold a dinner - with the intent of finally meeting Aurora's parents. Maleficent, distrustful of humans, reluctantly agrees.
In an effort to seize control of the Moors for herself, Queen Ingrith frames Maleficent; using the cursed spindle's needle to place Maleficent's own curse against the king, causing him to fall into the same sleep-like death Aurora had years prior. Aurora, knowing Maleficent's hatred of mortals, unfortunately believes the ruse. Maleficent flees the chaos and is shot by one of Ingrith's guards. Plunging into the ocean, narrowly drowning in the sea.She was saved by Conall, a member of the Dark Fey. A cousin species to Moorian fae, Conall and his people sought refugee with the last nest of the Fey. Housed near the remains of the Phoenix, which the Moorian fae are descended from. Borra, a vengeful Fey, pleads with Maleficent to fight alongside them in a rebellion against the humans; while Conall seeks peace with the mortals, wishing to end the wars once and for all.Maleficent, not wishing to be yet another pawn in war, is hesitant. Her hand becomes forced after Conall's death, and hearing of Ingrith's plan to destroy the Moors on the day of Philip and Aurora's wedding. Maleficent is shot and killed by Ingrith in an attempt to save Aurora's life. However, the power of the Phoenix within Maleficent's fae side, allows her to be reborn once more, and ending Ingrith's cruel plan.
After the years fly by and Aurora passes, Maleficent's weariness grows. The Moors dwindling in power as more and more creatures pass, and the need for Maleficent's protection wanes. She begins to spend more time away from the land. Seeing what lies beyond the borders, and even out past the oceans. Days become weeks, weeks become years, and eventually Maleficent finds herself moving between the fabric of the world. Slipping between time itself.Her exploration would come to a halt one day. A voice, piercing from the distance, calling for help. For someone, anyone. Upon following it, she was met with a burning town. A mother clutching her child as invaders sliced their way through the village; pleading for help to the pair of golden eyes that looked with curiosity from the shadows. It was quick work for someone well-versed in death and war. As fast as they had come, they had fallen.Tending to the wounded and dousing flames, the survivors wasted no time in rebuilding; shielding their eyes from the tall, horned figure now returning to the treeline. But the mother did not. She asked for their name. To which she received the answer, "Maleficent." That is how stories begin.The next time Maleficent heard the call, it was a soldier on a battlefield, outnumbered by enemies. Then a young father pleading for that of his child's life after a horse riding accident. A person fleeing prosecution for a crime they did not commit and close to succumbing to injury. One after another, pleas for someone, became prayers and cries for her. Her name used, and thankful well wishes being given when she appeared.She finally questioned who these people were. How they knew of who she was, and why she was hearing their requests. An old man on his death bed explained: she had become a god in the eyes of mortals.
A poor taste was left in Maleficent's mouth after finding the truth. She had always been one to detest gods; feeling that she herself had been abandoned and betrayed by those she had worshipped years prior. She had not actively chosen to help anyone, really. It was selfish. A selfish desire for death and cruelty. She'd merely been led to it, nothing more. There was not an ounce of benevolence left within her body. That was what she told herself.Stories spun and tales told over hundreds of years; that of a woman, bearing horns and magic of verdant and gold, who would come to the aid of those who deserved it. Those with hellfire in their heart and drive within their skin. Parents willing to do anything for their children, warriors fighting for their cause above all else, and simply those who would not give up despite the odds. They were soldiers to the cause they chose. Maleficent had become known as the God of Soldiers.
Maleficent had grown weary of this life. Deciding it was time to move on, and sever the immortality she had inflicted upon herself. Though, first, she would embrace her new role as a god. Knowing well, even if she didn't agree with it, that what she had created was not something to simply abandon.In time, meeting that of a witch named Josephine. Unknowingly of a great power that she possessed within her. The gift of magic; the gift of sight beyond the mortal realm. Maleficent took Josephine under her wing. Giving the woman that of a piece of Maleficent's own soul, and in turn, Maleficent's magic; so that Josephine's power would last even beyond death, and into the next life.Where Maleficent knew they would meet again. Trained well under Maleficent, a disciple and prophet to the God of Soldiers, Josephine would go on to take Maleficent's teachings and guide other young witches. Spreading faith across the lands and hope within the communities of dying witches. Faith that would become known as Moorian Paganism.Maleficent laid herself within the halls of C'lann, a crumbling castle that once stood tall outside of the Moors. A winter refugee for creatures, including that of her own family. Treasures hidden deep beneath the floor boards, and Diaval at her side, Maleficent closed her eyes. It was time to begin again. Letting her magic take its course, she drifting away into that of eternal sleep.
On a cold day in late January of 1975, the cries of a newborn baby filled the halls of a London hospital. Maera Allory, thankful for her child's survival, would give the infant a name in honor to the Gods she had prayed to. Minerva dedicates herself to make sure that Moorland is not only a company that is well serving to the community, but to the employees within; offering livable wages, healthcare, and services of all type to employees in all branches within the business.Minerva frequently travels for work. Both with Moorland, and for her status as a celebrity. She is an advocate for all, including but not limited to better rights for disabled people and LGBT individuals, providing safe resources for sex workers, housing for homeless teens, and more. Minerva donates the majority of her personal salary to various charities.

She'd come to befriend countless older, lonely women; grandmothers who would give her a warm meal and a couch to sleep on in exchange for the running of an errand or a simple repair. It was in their kindness that Minerva had relearned what love meant. Having been deprived of it for so long.Eventually, the warm embrace of their apartments would become the cold dancefloors of smoky clubs. Minerva having taken up dancing to keep money in her pocket - and eventually, drugs within her system. Urged by her high school friend, Stefan, she fell further and further into her rut. And eventually, she'd be unable to dig herself out.Arrested at the age of 18, she narrowly avoided jail time, Minerva spends several months in rehab. Upon leaving, selling the last of her possessions, desperate for a new start, she asks her sponsor with help locating her biological family. Within weeks, Minerva was able to track down her mother's biological family, still living in Ireland.
Minerva reunited with her family in Portrane, Ireland. Living with her aunt for a couple years, until she was settled enough to get an apartment of her own in Dublin. She interned with her family's distillery, while also taking the job of assistant manager at a local strip club.Through connections both with her family and at the club, Minerva's skills in business grew. Eventually gaining the funds she needed to begin her own company, beginning in the sale of wine.Bottles being sold first exclusively in clubs, eventually making its way into grocery stores and restaurants. Expanding then into the sale of other liquors, drinks, and eventually beginning the acquisition of other businesses. Thanks in large part to Minerva's wit and charm. Within five years, you couldn't walk a block without seeing the name Moorland & Co.The conglomerate's success rapidly growing, in tandem with Minerva's wealth and fame. Gaining status for her outspoken nature, unapologetic stances, and personality. Often traveling, but returning home to Portrane often. Though, not everyone was keen on Minerva's abilities.

Stefan, jealous and angry that his old childhood friend had reached heights he had always dreamed of, was waiting for her. Stomping the gas pedal of his truck once she entered the crosswalk. Using her platform that grew tenfold with every passing day to speak on disability, sexuality, and even the troubles that had plagued her as a teen. Yet, she was far from without sin. Evenings spent drinking a bit more than one should; seeking the company of strangers and their beds, wanting nothing more than to be someone's, even if for only a night.In her mid thirties, during a business trip, Minerva would meet Karen Richardson. Charmed immediately by the younger blonde, and after a few weeks of rapidly growing friendship and adoration, Minerva decides to move to New York City.Though, despite the traumas that had kept her awake at night and that she silenced with physicality and substance, Minerva would always remain a kind woman.
